    aapl tv has more in common with the on demand programming offered by cable. They are both pay per view. If you like paying four bucks just to watch a movie then the previous is fine, but, my family watches a lot of movies and this would bankrupt me, long nflx. Also, cost of aapl box $229 I believe, you don't need the roku box unless you want it, I stream off my pc. I agree the content is an expensive gamble, but, the library has grown exponentially. I think big content will mean a lot to the likes of microsoft, I see the past actions of msft as flirtation, possibly we will see consummation? It would give a viable platform to compete with apple in a new emerging battlefield. Reply

    Again, Apple and iPods have nothing to do with Netflix. iPods don't stream content, it plays content that has been downloaded. And all Netflix has said is that their streaming service for the PC will support Mac's at some point. Nothing Netflix offers has to do with downloads to an iPod. Reply

    Dan, it's relevant because Apple's download works and with iPod. iPods are in all the cars manufactured now, ect... and, finally, Netflix recently announced they would be compatible with Apple by year's end.

    Anyone who actually wants an XBOX already has one. iPods by contrast have been adopted by around 90% of all households in the US. Duh. Netflix and Apple belong together, it's just sad that they tried to go with a Micorosft only 'watch now' when Microsoft has no position in the downloadable media market whatsoever.     Reply

    What does "video downloads" have to do with Netflix? Netflix's watch now service, XBOX 360 service and Roku service are all streaming based services, with no downloads. It's a completely different service offering than Apple's. Reply

    If I read the plans correctly, I can pay $8.99 a month and stream content 24 hours a day, all month long. Sounds like a steal. If NFLX can insert ads -- basically acting like a 100% on-demand cable channel -- they could do very, very well indeed with streaming content. Combine what the customer is watching with demographics about the customer, and it becomes a Google-type targeted advertising environment. (Rumor has it that Google makes a bit of money doing exactly this.) Reply

    WFMI in Alabama is always packed - always, even today as we speak and as the market goes every which way.... It seems almost to be a bit of a refuge, one just feels better in there... It's at a major discount now and, please - a Kroger, Wal Mart, Safeway, A&P, Publix... are NOT equals to WF. No way. I can't "techically" shop there based on strict economics, but like many, I do. It's just a great place. Again, check the parking lots....

    svosavvy is another cheap customer that Netflix gets, a typical low margin customer. Make sure you stay with NFLX, don't come back to Blockbuster. Cancel everything in your house, watch everything on your PC !! You should long MSFT or APPL instead. Reply

    It's so odd to me. when DNDN spiked into the 20's i remember peopleposting that they couldn't short the stock anymore, their broker didn't have and couldn't find anymore shares to short for their clients. I guess things have changed a little bit since than.
    What would happen in todays market, ok before 5 days ago, when naked short selling was allowed.

    what would have happened. I'm lost on this one as usual.

    It is one thing to state an intention to enforce a rule - and quite another to do it. The SEC has ignored its own disciplinary threats before. Often, it is not investors trying to manipulate stocks, but brokers themselves so the SEC has full authority to obtain compliance with SHO if they choose to do so. With considerable skepticism, time will tell. Reply

    The law was enacted in 2004. Cox says he is now going to enforce it, in 2008? What do we pay these people for? Why isn't Cox standing up before Congress trying to defend his refusal to enforce the law for the last four years?     Reply
